What We Store
You can use the scanner without an account, and accounts are optional.
Every scan is recorded as a timestamped counter row, stored with your account id (or with your IP address if you're not signed in) and used only to enforce scan limits; these rows contain no ingredient data.
Ingredient lists, photos, and results are processed in real time and are NOT stored, unless you're signed in and explicitly choose “Save”, in which case that scan's result table, photo, and product name are stored in your account until you delete them.
If you add allergens or watch categories, those are stored with your account so the features work; you can remove them any time.
Analytics
We record anonymous usage events, such as how many scans run per day, how many of them found acrylates as a daily total, and how often product suggestions are shown or clicked, collected only to improve the website and never shared with third parties. These are running counts only — they are not linked to you, your account, or your IP address.
- Anthropic. We use an Anthropic language model (Claude) to parse and extract ingredient names from the text or images you provide, and to answer follow-up questions in the chat. The language model is not used for the acrylate scan results themselves; those come from our own dedicated scanning system. Per Anthropic's commercial API terms, inputs and outputs sent through the API are not used for model training.
- Vercel Web Analytics. Used solely to count how many people visit this site. It does not use tracking cookies, does not collect IP addresses, and does not gather any personal data. All metrics are aggregated and anonymous.
Payments
Premium payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details; Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep you signed in (session cookies) and one small preference cookie that remembers whether you dismissed the “Add to Home Screen” prompt. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
No Selling or Sharing
Your data is never sold, used for advertising, or shared with third parties beyond the services described above.
